The Real Value of Real Estate

Are you curious to know what the bible says about real estate and the people who buy, sell, value and finance it?

Right from the first chapter the bible shows God dealing with real estate (Genesis 1:9 “And God said…”let the dry land appear”).

Is real estate “in your blood”? The next chapter tells us that God used real estate as the raw ingredients to create the very first human “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground” (Genesis 2:7).

God didn’t leave the real estate undeveloped, and he opened it up for people to live there (“The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed” Genesis 2:8).

It was also out of the real estate that every need and pleasure was supplied (well, almost every one ;).(“And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food…” Genesis 2:9).

I saw today that Sotheby’s were selling a best-in-class Condo on Fifth Ave, New York, for $34 Million. That’s a lot of money. But the job of a realtor or real estate agent is meant to be far more valuable than just finding another listing or holding another open house – Life and knowledge were also trees that grew from the real estate (“The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” Genesis 2:9).

God unfolds this wisdom throughout the ancient pages of the Bible. But it’s only now with today’s technology that we can even begin to understand his methods.

For example, Jesus declared that if the most prized real estate development in Jerusalem was destroyed, he could rebuild it in three days. The locals scoffed at him because they knew it took 46 years to build the temple, and assumed he was going to use the same materials and the same methods, so how could he possibly achieve 46 years worth of progress in just three days?

By flipping the game on its head! If he said it today, the locals would probably believe that he could do it and simply be worried that he was going to replace it with a modular skyscraper 3D-printed in China!

Both assumptions are wrong. Jesus was referring to a far more sophisticated solution that was not just able to achieve 46 years worth of real estate development in three days, it took advantage of a technology that was virtual, social, mobile, voice-activated, personally-customised, infinitely scalable, and far more valuable.

And that’s nothing to the descriptions of real estate described in heaven with waterfront listings where the seas are so crystal clear they are transparent, the fixtures are made of precious gem stones and even the paving is pure gold.

When you learn to create those kind of real estate solutions, your clients may just think $34 million isn’t really that much to pay after all.

How do I know this?

Because I used to be you. I worked hard for four months to get my first listing, and another two months to get a single sale. By the time I split that commission with the other agent, and paid back my door-knocking-demanding boss for the privilege of working for him for six months, there wasn’t enough left to call it a “reward” for all my hard work in realty. It was more like a slap in the face from reality.

I always dreamed of making more money, having more freedom and living a better life.

To achieve this, I always thought it was about “me”. I thought I needed to be smarter, harder working, have more skills, know more people, be more outgoing…

I was wrong.

Once I discovered God’s way, I found out actually the opposite was true – work was easier, I only needed three simple skills, and I could be authentically me.

But more than that real estate wasn’t just about financial transactions anymore. I got so much more Life out of it! And it leveraged so much more for my beautiful clients.

When I changed my perspective, everything changed.
